2022 Topps Now Road to Opening Day

Description

2022 Topps Now Road to Opening Day is a series of fifteen-card team sets, all produced to order by Topps. Each set retailed for $49.99. Unlike the traditional Topps Now cards, which were only available for a 24 hour period, Road to Opening Day sets were sold Beginning March 17th until April 15th. Selected team sets also had the option of adding an autograph to their set for an additional fee. Each set contained a serial-numbered parallel.

Parallels

Each set yielded one serial-numbered parallel. Due to the fact that production levels varied between team sets, the number of players and number of parallels varied by team.

All 450 base cards are available in the following parallels.

• Orange (serial-numbered to five)
• Gold (one-of-one)

The following teams also have Red parallels, serial-numbered to ten: Orioles, Guardians, Twins, Astros, Athletics, Rangers, Reds, Brewers, Pirates, and Giants.

The following teams have, in addition to a Red parallel, a Purple parallel serial-numbered to 25 copies: Red Sox, White Sox, Tigers, Royals, Mariners, Mets, Phillies, Nationals, Cubs, Cardinals, and Padres.

The following teams have, in addition to a Red and Purple parallel, a Blue parallel serial-numbered to 49 copies: Yankees, Blue Jays, Braves, and Dodgers.

The following teams have, in addition to a Red, Purple, and Blue parallel, a Black parallel serial-numbered to 99 copies: Rays, and Angels.

NOTE: Based on the number of sets sold, it is obvious that the stated production runs for some parallels do not exist. For example, only 81 Diamondbacks team sets were sold. Assuming one-of-one Gold parallels for all 15 players exist, that means that not all five Orange parallels for each player exist.

It should be assumed that each player's scarcest cards were issued first with the next level of parallel issued as they went, until the allotment was fulfilled. Using the D'Backs as an example: It can be assumed that all fifteen one-of-one Gold parallels were issued, but only six of the fifteen players had all five Orange parallels. The other nine players had only four Orange parallels issued -- even though they are serial-numbered to five.
