* For the short set (#1-#60), each player had an aggregate number of 61 serial-numbered Essential Credentials cards produced.
* For the Prospects subset (#61-#90), each player had an aggregate number of 31 serial-numbered Essential Credentials cards produced.

====Now====

https://img.comc.com/i/Baseball/2000/EX---Base---Essential-Credentials-Now/56/Troy-Glaus.jpg?id=bd9be802-fada-4c5f-ac4d-afd4d6af76bf&size=original&side=front.jpg

For the short set (#1-#60), the serial-numbering for the Essential Credentials Now parallel set mirrored numbering of the base set such that card #1 in the set is a one-of-one, #2 was serial numbered to two, all the way to card #60 which is serial-numbered to 60 copies. The arrangement of players in the base set placed the top current stars in the game first, semi-stars next, minor-stars after, and the young stars last - thus, the established players who were starring "Now" in the game featured the lowest serial-numbering in the Essential Credentials Now parallel for the Short Set.

Each card is serial-numbered to 3499 copies.
For the Prospects subset, (#61-#90), the serial numbering for the Essential Credentials Now parallel was determined by subtracting 60 from the card number.  For example, card #61 is a one-of-one (61 - 60 = 1), card #62 is serial-numbered to two, all the way to card #90 which is serial-numbered to 30.

Essential Credentials Now was printed on a glossy, opaque red acetate.  For each player in this parallel, the team-colored holographic foil from the base design was replaced with a frosted, team-colored etched foil embedded in the acetate; this red acetate replaced silver holographic portion of the base card.  "Essential Credentials Now" was printed on the back, along with the serial number.

The 90-card set is mirrored by parallels known as Essential Credentials Future and Essential Credentials Now. The print runs are as follows:

===Essential Credentials Future===
For the short set (1-60), the serial-numbering for the Essential Credentials Future parallel was determined by subtracting the player's card number in the base set from 61.  Again, due to the arrangement of players in the base set, the top current stars were featured first while the young stars were featured last - thus, the potential "Future", non-prospect stars of the game featured the lowest serial-numbering in the Essential Credentials Future parallel of the Short set.

Cards 1-60: Print run determined by subtracting card number from 61 (ex. card 13 would have a print run of 48)
For example, card #1 is serial-numbered to 60 copies (61 - 1 = 60), card #2 is serial-numbered to 59 copies, all the way to card #60 which is a one-of-one.

Cards 61-90: Print run determined by subtracting card number from 91 (ex. card 76 would have a print run of 15)
For the Prospects subset, (#61-#90), the serial numbering for the Essential Credentials Now parallel was determined by subtracting 91 from the card number.  For example, card #61 is serial-numbered to 30 copies (91 - 61 = 30), card #62 is serial-numbered to 29 copies, all the way to card #90 which is a one-of-one

===Essential Credentials Now===
Essential Credentials Now was printed on a glossy, opaque blue acetate.  For each player in this parallel, the team-colored holographic foil from the base design was replaced with a frosted, team-colored etched foil embedded in the acetate; this blue acetate replaced silver holographic portion of the base card.  "Essential Credentials Now" was printed on the back, along with the serial number.

Cards 1-60: Print run matches card number (ex. card 1 is a 1/1)

Description

2000 E-X is a 90-card set distributed exclusively to Hobby outlets by Fleer/Skybox and released in June 2000. For the first time since the 1995 Emotion set, cards were produced on a single piece of regular cardstock and design was simpler than products from previous years that utilized multiple layers, depth, acetate, and die-cutting to create complex base set designs. Cards were printed on tri-colored holographic foil that was laminated to a piece of conventional paper cardstock. The foil fronts emphasized two team colors for each player and featured a silver holographic sliver running the middle of each card and behind the player's team logo. Card backs printed on a glossy white background.

The base set consisted of established player cards (1-60) and a 30-card "Prospects" subset (61-90) which were inserted at a rate of 1:12 packs and serial-numbered to 3499 -- the first time this brand had had serial-numbered base cards. Despite this, there were no true Rookie Cards in the set.

Once again, the numbering of the base set was subjectively arranged to have top current stars in the game featured first in the set, semi-stars next, minor-stars after, then the non-prospect young stars, and prospects featured last - this arrangement was key to the serial-numbering rationale for the Essential Credentials parallel sets.

Distribution

24 packs of 3 cards each (MSRP $3.99). Hobby Exclusive.

For example, card #1 is serial-numbered to 60 copies (61 - 1 = 60), card #2 is serial-numbered to 59 copies, all the way to card #60 which is a one-of-one.

Genuine Coverage cards featured a postage stamp-sized swatch of game-used jersey which were still a novelty at a time. The set is sequentially-numbered based on the player's uniform jersey number.

The Mike Mussina and Heath Murray jersey cards did not pack out and only emerged after Fleer's bankruptcy in 2005. Murray is depicted as a Cincinnati Red, a team he went to Spring Training with in 2000, but never pitched in a regular season game for.
