2002 Leaf Rookies & Stars

Description

2002 Leaf Rookies & Stars is a 400-card set released in November, 2002. The last 100 cards in the base set (#301-#400) make up a short-printed "Rookie" subset. Despite the large number of rookies, Cliff Lee is the only notable RC. Each 24-pack Hobby box should yield one game-used card.

2002 LR&S is perhaps best known for over 100 base set variations that were not acknowledged until after the product's release. In a harbinger of "gimmicks" to come, Donruss-Playoff randomly inserted into packs base cards featuring players in their previous team's uniform. Unfortunately, since these cards look exactly like the player's base card and are not marked otherwise, it is very difficult to identify, much less attempt to collect, the full set.
