Description
1995 Fleer was a 600-card, single-series, set. In contrast to the previous year's set, this set was largely derided as one of the ugliest card sets ever produced and referred to by some collectors as the "Acid Trip" set. There were six different card-front designs that were exclusive to each of the six MLB Divisions - for example, all players on teams in the AL West featured the same card-front design. This set was also unique as it featured biographical information such as height, weight, etc., on the front of each base card.
The checklist was arranged alphabetically by teams within each League with AL preceding NL. To preview the product prior to its public release, Fleer printed additional quantities of cards 26, 78, 155, 235, 285, 351, 509 and 514 and mailed them to dealers and hobby media. However, since none of the cards were marked as promos, there is no way of distinguishing them from the pack-inserted base cards.
As with previous Fleer products, each pack had one insert card to cater to collectors that were enjoying the "Insert Mania" wave that was sweeping through the Hobby at the time. To further indulge collectors, Fleer also distributed "Hot Packs", which contained nothing but inserts.
Distribution
Hobby/Retail: 36 packs per box; 12 cards per pack (MSRP: $1.40).
Jumbos: 24 packs per box; 18 cards per pack (Pre-Priced: $1.99). Eight boxes per case.
