Just released[[2017 Topps Series One] was released February 1st. For the third consecutive year, Series One base set will consist of 350 cards. And for the second straight year, the set will have a borderless design. Once again, each 36-pack Hobby box will yield either an autograph or a Relic, while Hobby Jumbo boxes will one of each plus a manufactured "Relic." 2016 National Treasures was released by Panini, exclusively to Hobby outlets, on December 30th. All cards feature an autograph and/or piece of game-used memorabilia. Every eight-card box will yield one "booklet" card. 2016 Bowman's Best will be released December 21st. The base set is 65 cards and is supplemented by a 35-card Prospects set. Each 12-pack Hobby box will yield four autographs and an Atomic Refractor parallel. 2016 Panini Elite Extra Edition is a 180-card draft pick/prospect set scheduled for release December 14th. In a restructuring of the brand, every base card will be serial-numbered to 999 copies, and every pack will contain at least one autograph and either a second autograph or a game-used memorabilia card. Extra Edition will feature the first baseball card of former Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Tim Tebow. 2016 Bowman Draft is a 200-card set scheduled for release December 9th. After a one-year experiment featuring exclusively draft picks, the brand will feature both 2016 MLB Draft picks (120 in all) and 80 Prospects. In addition, the conventional Hobby waxbox has been shelved in favor of Jumbo and Super Jumbo boxes. 2016 Topps Transcendent is scheduled for release December 9th. Produced to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of Topps Baseball, this one-of-a-kind product, which will be limited to 65 factory sets, is the most expensive baseball card product ever released. Each factory set, which is packaged in a Halliburton-style aluminum case contains the following:
2016 Topps Dynasty was released December 7th. As with previous Dynasty sets, each box will contain an encased autographed patch card serial-numbered to ten copies or less. 2016 Dynasty will feature the first Derek Jeter autographed cards Topps has issued since 2000 Topps HD. 2016 Panini Pantheon was released November 23rd, 2016. The product will feature retired players exclusively and all cards will be either an autograph or a game-used memorabilia card. 2016 Topps High Tek was released November 23rd. As usual, all cards are printed on acetate with multiple background pattern parallels. Each eight-card box will contain one parallel and one autograph. 2016 Topps Gold Label is a 300-card set scheduled for release October 21st. As with the Gold Label sets of the late-90s, the set features 100 different players on three different "Class" cards: 1, 2, and 3. Each seven-pack Hobby box will yield one Framed Autograph. 2016 Topps Update is a 300-card set (100 cards smaller than the previous year's set), released October 19th, 2016. As usual, each Hobby box will yield one autograph or Relic, while Jumbo boxes will have one autograph and two Relics. This set will have the first Topps flagship card of Baltimore Orioles All-Star catcher Matt Wieters. 2016 Topps Five Star was released October 5th, 2016. All cards are autographed, and each box will contain two. 2016 Triple Threads is a 100-card set originally scheduled for release September 14th, 2016, but was recalled due to undisclosed "packaging issues" and eventually released two weeks late on September 28th. As usual, each seven-card Hobby pack will contain three base cards, two parallels, one triple Relic card serial-numbered to 36 copies or fewer, and an autograph serial-numbered to 99 copies or fewer. 2016 Topps Heritage Minor League is a 215-card Minor League released September 28th. Each 18-pack box will yield one autograph and one Relic card. 2016 Bowman Chrome -- the 20th edition of this product -- is a 100-card set supplemented by a 100-card Prospects insert set, scheduled for release September 7th. Each 12-pack Hobby box will yield two autographs. 2016 BowChro seeing the return of "Vending Boxes." Unlike the Vending Boxes of old, these are not designed to restock baseball card vending machines, and are closer to 1992 Bowman "cartons." Each 80-card Vending Box will yield three autographs. 2016 Topps Archives Signature Series All-Star Edition was released exclusively to Hobby outlets August 30th, 2016. As with the previous year's product, each box contains one encased autographed buyback card which is stamped as coming from this product and serial-numbered. Rather than the plastic "slabs" Topps had used in the past (in brands like Topps Tribute and eTopps), each card is encased in an off-the-shelf BCW Mini Snap magnetic holder with a sticker sealing it shut. Since One Touch holders can only fit standard-sized (2 1/2" X 3 1/2") cards, all pre-1957 Topps cards (which measure 2 5/8" X 3 3/4") used in this product are encased in top-loaders. As the subtitle of the product's name suggests, each player was at one point in their career an All-Star. New for 2016 are multi-player autographs and autographed game-used Relic cards. There appears to be a significant number deceased players -- some dead for over a decade. It is unclear how Topps acquired these cards (i.e. whether these players signed for Topps before their death, or if these autographs were purchased by Topps from third-parties). 2016 Bowman Platinum is a 100-card set, supplemented by a 110-card Top Prospects set, scheduled for release August 24th. Bowman Platinum is returning after a one year hiatus and will be available exclusively at Walmart stores. 2016 Bowman Platinum is the first product to be released to a specific retailer since 1994 Sportflics Rookie/Traded. 2016 Topps Bunt is a 200-card "physical" card set based on, and with many ties to, the popular Topps Bunt digital card game. 2016 Panini Immaculate is a 138-card set released August 17th. Each base card is serial-numbered to 99 copies. Each six-card box will contain five autographs/game-used cards. 2016 Topps The Mint was released August 10th, 2016 -- a week earlier than previously announced. Each box will yield five serial-numbered on-card autographs with a limited checklist. On a box-per-box basis, this is the most expensive trading card product Topps has produced to date. The Mint will feature the first fully-licensed autograph of Vin Scully. 2016 Topps Strata was released August 10th, 2016. As with the the previous year's set, All cards are autographs and/or game-used Relics, with each two-card box yielding one of each. Every other box with have the Relic replaced with an Autographed Relic. Each Relic will have an MLB-issued authentication sticker affixed with a unique serial number. When entered into the MLB Authentication website, the serial number will allow collectors to verify the "game used" authenticity of their Strata card. 2016 Topps Chrome is a 200-card set scheduled for release August 3rd, 2016. As usual, each Hobby box will yield two autographs and the usual slew of Refractor parallels are included. 2016 Topps Allen & Ginter's is a 351-card set, released the week of July 22nd. As usual, each 24-pack Hobby box will include three of the following: Autographs, Relics, Rip Cards, or A&G Originals. After a year in which all 350 base cards were printed in equal quantities, the last 51 cards are back to being short-prints. 2016 Donruss Optic is a 175-card parallel brand scheduled for release July 20th. Each card is printed on what Panini calls "Optichrome" cardstock, and the whole product can be see as their rendition of Topps Chrome. The base set is a rehash of the 2016 Donruss base set with 30 short-printed Diamond Kings, 35 Rated Rookies (20 of which did not appear in Donruss Baseball) and ten Autographed Rated Rookies. Each 20-pack Hobby box will yield two autographs. |
