Description

2006 Greats of the Game is a 100-card set released by Upper Deck on April 10, 2006. This was the first edition of the Greats brand since Fleer's bankruptcy -- and the last as Upper Deck decided to discontinue all Fleer-branded baseball brands after 2007. Each five-card pack will contain one insert and each 15-pack Hobby box will yield one serial-numbered insert, two autographs and two game-used memorabilia cards

Distribution

Hobby: 15 packs per box, five cards per pack.

Parallels

All 100 base cards are available in the following parallels.

  • Pewter
  • Copper (serial-numbered to 299 copies)

Printing Plates

A set of four Printing Plate parallels were made for all 100 base cards; however, these cards were not inserted into packs. Rather, Upper Deck issued to Hobby dealers special "Plate Packs" which had the Plates inside.

Autographs

Each base card (except #55) is also available in an Autographed parallel. However, due to a mix-up by Upper Deck, some autographed stickers meant for the "Nicknames" insert (see below) were accidentally affixed to these cards.

Shortly after the product's release, Upper Deck provided some information on the production figures for each card.

  • Tier 1: 50-90 copies
  • Tier 2: 100-150 copies
  • Tier 3: 151-300 copies
  • Tier 4: 301-600 copies
