Distribution

The cards were distributed in either retail or hobby packs. Both boxes came 24 packs per box, 8 cards per pack. The main difference between the two was that Hobby packs and have much better odds of a GU or AU card.

Parallels

There are four different types of parallels which can be found in the 2005 Bowman Heritage set, Mahogany, Mini, Red Rainbow, and Printing Plate.

Mahogany

The Mahogany parallel set number 1-350 and mirrors the regular base set in player photos and size. The Mahogany cards are found on average one per pack (although a relic card could be found in packs in lieu of the mahogany card in some instances)

Mini

A miniature set number 1-350 and also mirrors the regular base set in player photos. The size of the cards, however, at 2 1/2 x 3 1/8 inches are designed to replicate the original 1951 Bowman baseball set.

Red Rainbow

Red Rainbow card parallels number 1-350 and can be identified by a red border around the front of the card, are stamped 1/1 on the back, and also feature a hologram also displaying the 1/1 and associated serial number. Each of the 350 cards in the base set have a Red Rainbow 1/1 parallel.

Printing Plates

Printing plates parellels are considered 1/1, each being unique, but each of the 350 cards in the base set has four different colored printing plates (black, cyan, magenta, and yellow) making for a total of 1400 printing plates. The printing plates are exclusively found in hobby packs inserted at a rate of 1:343 packs.

Inserts

In honor of the original 1951 Topps Heritage Blue Back and Red Back set, Bowman Heritage also included some of the biggest names in baseball for the 2005 season as part of their Blue Back and Red Back insert sets. The complete set contains 106 cards total, 52 Blue Backs and 54 Red Backs.

The Pieces of Greatness relics set has three variations, the regular version, a Rainbow relic version serial numbered to 51 per card, and a Red Rainbow version numbered 1/1. The rainbow relics are seeded 1:183 hobby packs and 1:735 retail packs. Red Rainbow relics are seeded 1:7841 hobby packs only.

Signs of Greatness cards were inserted at varying odds in three separate groups. The cards feature on-card autographs rather than stickers. The Jay Bruce, Jon Papelbon, Ryan Braun and Ryan Zimmerman are all highly valued cards. A parallel Red Ink version was also inserted in packs at a rate of 1:634 per hobby box and 1:635 per Retail box. Each red ink card is serial numbered to 51 copies each.
