1997 Burger King Ripken

Description

1997 Burger King Ripken is a nine-card set of Cal Ripken, Jr. The set was available at Baltimore and Washington D.C.-area Burger King restaurants beginning August 4th, 1997 and running through September 13th, 1997. Collectors who ordered a Value Meal could then purchase a pack of three-cards for 99 cents. Towards the end of the promotion, packs were available for $1.15 without any food purchase. Curiously, with the exception of the header card, the Burger King logo is nowhere on the cards.

Each pack contained a game piece which gave the collector a chance to win a Ripken wrist watch or autographed Ripken balls or jerseys. All proceeds from this promotion benefited the Ripken Charities.
