Gem Mint: A card that is virtually perfect. Until the emergence of grading, the term "gem" mint was unheard of. Gem came into the Hobby thanks to PSA which grades "Mint" cards as PSA 9 and "Gem Mint" as PSA 10. BGS also grades on a ten-point with half-point grades. On their scale, a "Mint" card is BGS 9, a "Gem Mint" is BGS 9.5, while a BGS 10 is considered "Pristine."
