Set of the Month

1987 Donruss The Rookies is a 56-card boxed set released exclusively to Hobby dealers in a small green and black box. The design on the set is identical to the 1987 Donruss regular issue except for the presence of "The Rookies" logo in the lower left corner and a green border instead of a black border. Each set also came packaged with a 15-piece miniature version of the Roberto Clemente puzzle.

The key XRCs in this set are Ellis Burks and Matt Williams. The second Donruss-issued cards of Greg Maddux and Rafael Palmeiro are also in this set. Much like with the Wally Joyner in the '86 set, the Mark McGwire card is quite condition sensitive due to it being the first card in the set.

2021 Topps Heritage Minor League is a 220-card set released October 27th. Each 18-pack Hobby box will yield two autographs.

Because Minor League Baseball was not played in 2020, for the first time in this product's history, there are no Relic cards (manufactured or otherwise).

2021 Panini Mosaic is a 289-card set released October 20th. Yet another chromium-stock product (Panini's fifth so far this year), each Hobby box is expected to yield five Silver Prizm parallels, two Red parallels, and three autographs.

2021 Bowman Transcendent was released October 20th. Only 100 sets were produced.

Each factory set contains the following:

  • One, 50-card base set or a 50-card base image variation set, serial-numbered to 50 copies.
  • 30 Transcendent Autographs.
  • One, one-of-one, Icons Deco Gold Autograph.
  • One, one-of-one, Alec Bohm Through the Years Autograph.
  • One, one-of-one, Wander Franco Through the Years Autograph.
  • One, one-of-one, 1989 Bowman SuperFractor Autograph.
  • One, one-of-one, 1955 Bowman Oversized Cut Signature.
  • A VIP Experience Invitation.

2021 Topps Five Star was released October 20th. All cards are autographed, and each box will contain two.

2021 Donruss Optic was released October 6th -- about a month and a half later than usual. As usual, Optic is a 207-card chromium-stock take on the 2021 Donruss set. Each 20-pack Hobby box will yield 20 inserts 10 parallels, and a pair of autographs.

Randomly seeded "Hot Boxes" will yield five autographs, or one serial-numbered parallel per pack.

"First off the Line" boxes were made available exclusively through paniniamerica.net. These boxes contain three autographs per box (one of which will be serial-numbered to 35 copies or fewer), a Pandora parallel serial-numbered to 99 in each pack, and a Cracked Ice parallel serial-numbered to seven per box.

2021 Spectra is a 182-card set released by Panini on October 1st. This is the product's debut as a stand-alone set in baseball, although it has appeared as an insert in Panini Chronicles, as well as other sports.

All cards are printed on a thick-gauge chromium cardstock. Each four-card pack will yield an autograph and a game-used card.

2021 Topps Gold Label is a 300-card set released October 1st. As with the Gold Label sets of the late-90s, the set features 100 different players on three different "Class" cards: 1, 2, and 3. Unfortunately, the holo-foil plastic cardstock the brand was known for in the 90s was not used -- regular paper stock was used instead.

Each box will yield one Framed Autograph.

2021 Bowman Sterling is a 51-card set supplemented by a 50-card "Prospects" set, released September 29th. As with previous Bowman Sterling sets, each pack will contain an autograph.

2021 Bowman Chrome was released September 22nd with a 100-card base set supplemented by a 100-card Prospects set. Each 12-pack Hobby box will yield a pair of autographs.

For the fourth consecutive year, HTA Choice boxes are available which contain three autographs and nothing else. New for 2021 are Hobby Lite boxes which do not guarantee an autograph.

2021 Topps Pro Debut is a 200-card Minor League set released August 25th. Each 24-pack Hobby box will yield four autographs.

2021 Panini Immaculate was released August 20th. All cards in the product are either autographs or game-used cards. Each six-card box is expected to yield four autographs and two game-used cards.

2021 Topps Chrome was released August 20th. Each Hobby box will yield two autographs, ten inserts and 12 Refractors while each Jumbo box will have five autos and twelve Refractors.

2021 Panini Prizm is a 250-card set released August 13th. Each 12-card Hobby pack will contain one Prizm parallel and one insert. Every fourth Hobby pack will yield an autograph.

2021 Topps Allen & Ginter is a 350-card set, released the week of August 11th. As usual, each 24-pack Hobby box will include three of the following: Autographs, Relics, Rip Cards, or A&G Originals.

2021 Topps Luminaries was released August 11th. Each box contains one autographed card serial-numbered to 20 copies or fewer.
