In keeping with the zeitgeist of the mid-90s Hobby, for the second consecutive year the staple Diamond Kings set was featured as an insert. This 31-card card set featured popular players in the game at the time -- one per team -- as rendered by famed sports artist, Dick Perez, with gold foil accent stamps. The design is virtually identical to the [[1992 Donruss#Diamond Kings|previous year's Diamond Kings,]] the sole differences being that the backs have a forest green border.
Cards #DK-1 through #DK-15 were available in Series One while cards #DK-16 through #DK-31 were available in Series Two. Cards #DK-27 and #DK-28 honored the first two picks in the 1992 Expansion Draft, while cards #DK-29 and #DK-30 recognized the 1992 MLB Rookies of the Year -- the only time in the entire Diamond Kings run that the previous year's ROYs would be so honored.
As part of a contest, collectors | As part of a contest, collectors sixteen years of age and younger could win one of the original Diamond King paintings by Dick Perez. Any eligible youngster could write an essay of seventy-five words or less explaining who their favorite Diamond King player was and why. Winners were awarded one of thirty framed, original watercolor pieces at the 1993 National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago.

This 20-card depicted some of the most exciting players in the game on a borderless-full bleed card that utilized either close-up player action shots or "flip-book" photos that simulated animation. Each card featured a gold foil "Spirit of the Game" stamp on the front and a bold catchphrase summarizing the player/picture on the back. Cards #SG1 through #SG10 were exclusive to Series One packs while cards #SG11-SG20 were exclusive to Series Two.

Once again, the popular Elite Series set was featured as Donruss' showpiece insert. This year's offering was notable because each of the eighteen cards in the set featured a silver-holographic "cracked-ice" foil pattern, which was the first use of this design in The Hobby and was later popularized by the [[1998_Bowman%27s_Best#Parallels|1998 Bowman's Best Atomic Refractors]] years later. This unique holographic pattern bordered the card that also featured a team-colored background with the color player photo in the foreground.

This year's special Elite Legends Series card honored Robin Yount for achieving 3000 career hits. The Legends Series card featured holographic silver foil in a radiant pattern that repeated around the borders of a Dick Perez rendition of Yount, surrounded by a dark-red border. Unlike previous Legends Series cards which were serial-numbered to 7500 copies, this year's card was serial-numbered to 10,000.

Further, Barry Bonds was depicted in his Giants uniform and Dave Winfield was updated in his Minnesota Twins uniform. Each Elite Series Super was serial-numbered to 5000 copies.

This 16-card, oversized (3" X 5") set honored some of the top established stars in the game through the artwork of Dick Perez on the card fronts. The back of each card resembled a postcard. Description
1993 Donruss was a 792-card set issued across two 396 card series - the largest Donruss Baseball set to date. Continuing from the previous year's establishment of an updated look and feel to the set as a whole - and to be continually competitive in the Hobby due to higher-quality looking releases across the landscape - base cards featured a glossy finish over a card with white borders, color player photos on the front and back, and team-colored nameplate and logo backgrounds. For the second and final year, the backs of each card were "watermarked" with the Donruss logo, which served as a security device. Futher, Donruss upped the amount of pack-issued insert offerings to six, to meet the growing demand of chase cards from collectors that were gripped by the "Insert Mania" that defined card collecting the early-to-mid 1990s.
Player selection in Series Two was heavily weighted towards the two expansion franchises that debuted in 1993: The Colorado Rockies and Florida Marlins -- although such players are still depicted as members of their old club.
The lone subset was the brand staple, Rated Rookies (RR) and these cards were scattered throughout the set, spotlighting 20 young prospects in the game at the time. Despite this, there are no notable Rookie Cards in this set.

Inserts
Diamond Kings
In keeping with the zeitgeist of the mid-90s Hobby, for the second consecutive year the staple Diamond Kings set was featured as an insert. This 31-card card set featured popular players in the game at the time -- one per team -- as rendered by famed sports artist, Dick Perez, with gold foil accent stamps. The design is virtually identical to the previous year's Diamond Kings, the sole differences being that the backs have a forest green border.
As part of a contest, collectors sixteen years of age and younger could win one of the original Diamond King paintings by Dick Perez. Any eligible youngster could write an essay of seventy-five words or less explaining who their favorite Diamond King player was and why. Winners were awarded one of thirty framed, original watercolor pieces at the 1993 National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago.

Spirit of the Game
This 20-card depicted some of the most exciting players in the game on a borderless-full bleed card that utilized either close-up player action shots or "flip-book" photos that simulated animation. Each card featured a gold foil "Spirit of the Game" stamp on the front and a bold catchphrase summarizing the player/picture on the back. Cards #SG1 through #SG10 were exclusive to Series One packs while cards #SG11-SG20 were exclusive to Series Two.

The Elite Series
Once again, the popular Elite Series set was featured as Donruss' showpiece insert. This year's offering was notable because each of the eighteen cards in the set featured a silver-holographic "cracked-ice" foil pattern, which was the first use of this design in The Hobby and was later popularized by the 1998 Bowman's Best Atomic Refractors years later. This unique holographic pattern bordered the card that also featured a team-colored background with the color player photo in the foreground.
The set was sequentially-numbered as a continuation of the set that begun in 1991 and carried on through 1992. Each card is serial-numbered to 10,000 copies. Cards #19-27 were exclusive to Series One packs while cards #28-36 were inserted in Series Two.

The Legends Series
This year's special Elite Legends Series card honored Robin Yount for achieving 3000 career hits. The Legends Series card featured holographic silver foil in a radiant pattern that repeated around the borders of a Dick Perez rendition of Yount, surrounded by a dark-red border. Unlike previous Legends Series cards which were serial-numbered to 7500 copies, this year's card was serial-numbered to 10,000.
This was the final year for The Legends Series insert.

The Elite Series Supers
This 20-card, oversized (3.5" X 5"), set paralleled the Elite Series insert set. Cards #1-#18 paralleled cards #19-#36 in the Elite set. The last two cards in this set - cards #19 and #20 - featured Nolan Ryan and Frank Thomas, neither of whom originally appeared in the Elite Series insert set. Further, Barry Bonds was depicted in his Giants uniform and Dave Winfield was updated in his Minnesota Twins uniform. Each Elite Series Super was serial-numbered to 5000 copies.
It is unclear how these cards were distributed; however, they were more than likely included as a premium in retail-repacks.
