Set of the Month

1999 Skybox Molten Metal is a 150-card set released in July 1999. The set is fractured into three subsets: Metal Smiths (cards 1-100) Heavy Metal subset (101-130, one-per-pack), and Supernatural (#131-#150, 1:2/packs). The cards are printed on 24-point foil-board cardstock.

A special edition of Molten Metal, with an exclusive Atlanta Braves-centric insert, was available to dealers who set up at the 1999 National Sports Collectors Convention in Atlanta.

2023 Panini Three & Two is a 113-card set released June 16th. Each five-card box will contain the following:

  • Three base, parallel, or insert cards
  • One encased game-used memorabilia card.
  • One encased autograph or autographed game-used memorabilia card.

As Panini on longer has a MLBPA license, all cards are of retired players or Minor Leaguers.

2023 Donruss is a 290-card set released by Panini America on June 2nd. Each Hobby box will yield two autographs and a game-used card.

This is the first Donruss set after Panini America's license with the MLBPA expired, and as such, features no active MLB players.

2023 Topps Heritage is a 500-card set released May 24th. In keeping with the brand's aesthetic, the design is based on the 1974 Topps set. Each Hobby box will, as usual, yield a relic, an autograph or an autographed relic.

2023 Topps Sterling was released May 24th. Each two-card box contains two autographed game-used cards serial-numbered to 25 copies or less with every fourth box yielding a one-of-one.

We estimate that 450 cases were produced, a slight decrease from the previous year's product.

2023 Bowman is a 100-card set, supplemented by a 150-card Prospects set, released April 26th. Each Hobby box will yield one autograph and 18 inserts. Hobby Jumbo boxes will contain three autographs and 12 inserts.

2022 Topps Dynasty was released April 12th, 2023. As usual, each box will contain an encased autographed patch card serial-numbered to ten or fewer.

2022 Stadium Club Chrome was released April 5th, 2023. As with the previous year's product, the first 300 cards are a full parallel of the 2022 Stadium Club base set, with an extra 100 cards tacked-on and exclusive to the Chrome product.

Each fourteen-pack Hobby box will yield ten inserts, four Refractor parallels, and one autograph.

2023 Topps Big League is a 310-card set released March 31st. This is the return of the Big League brand after a one-year absence, and with it a drastic makeover. The base set is tiered into five levels, with the scarcest ten-card Legendary tier packed out as case hits.

As part of Big League's makeover, it is replacing Opening Day as Topps' sub-base brand.

Each eight-card pack will yield one tiered base card and an insert.

2022 Topps Gold Label is a 300-card set released in March 15th, 2023 -- five months behind schedule. As with the Gold Label sets of the late-90s, the set features 100 different players on three different "Class" cards: 1, 2, and 3. Unfortunately, the holo-foil plastic cardstock the brand was known for in the 90s was not used -- regular paper stock was used instead.

Each box will yield one Framed Autograph.

After a seven-year run, this will be the final Gold Label product.

2022 Bowman's Best was released March 8th, 2023 and consists of a 70-card base set supplemented by a 30-card Prospects set. Each pack will yield one Refractor parallel, and each 12-pack Hobby box will have four autographs, six inserts, and an Atomic Refractor.

2022 Bowman Inception is a 100-card set released exclusively to Hobby outlets March 3rd, 2023th. Each seven-card box will contain four base cards, two parallels, and an autograph.

2022 Topps Allen & Ginter Chrome is a chromium-stock partial-parallel of the first 300 cards in the 2022 Topps Allen & Ginter set, released March 1st, 2023. Just like the regular A&G product, each pack contains one mini-sized parallel.

2022 Panini Elite Extra Edition was released February 22nd, 2023. As usual, the product focuses on recent draft picks and prospects, and can be seen as Panini's answer to Bowman Draft.

Each base card is serial-numbered to 999 copies. Each five-pack Hobby box will yield two game-used memorabilia cards, eight autographs, and five Optic parallels.

2023 Topps is a 660-card set released in two equal series of 330 cards. Series One was issued the week of February 15th. As usual, each 24-pack Hobby box will yield either an autograph or a Relic card while Hobby-exclusive jumbo boxes will yield an autograph, a game-used Relic, and a manufactured "relic."

2022 Panini Prizm Draft Picks is a 220-card set scheduled for release February 3rd, 2023.

Each eight card pack will yield one Silver Prizm, one insert, one autograph, and two additional Prizms.

2022 Topps Gilded Collection is a 160-card Chrome stock set, released February 1st, 2023. All 160 base cards are serial-numbered to 99 copies. Each five card box will yield two autographs.

2022 Finest is a 125-card set released by Topps on January 20th, 2023 -- six months later than its usual early Summer release date. Each box will yield two autographs.
