To preview the upcoming 1995 Donruss Baseball set, Donruss printed additional quantities of card numbers 5, 8, 20, 42, 55, 275, 331, and 340 and mailed them to dealers and Hobby media. Unfortunately, unlike other "promo" cards of the era, these cards are not marked and are exactly the same as any other base card.

1995 marked the introduction of the Press Proof parallel that became a staple in subsequent Donruss flagship and satellite brands. All 550 base cards were available as a Press Proof parallel that featured gold foil stamping across the nameplate - as opposed to silver foil stamping on the base cards - and have "PRESS PROOF" stamped in gold foil across the top of the card. However, some Press Proof cards are missing the Press Proof stamp on the front.
Each Press Proof was limited, but not serial-numbered, to 2000 copies which is denoted on the reverse side.

This 18-card set featured the starting lineups for the previous year's All-Star Game and was exclusive to Jumbo packs. Each card featured gray backgrounds with a white outline of the player's respective League logo and colored foil stamping over the "All-Star" text. American League players were in Series One Jumbo packs, while National League players were in Series Two Jumbo packs.
Due to the relative scarcity of Jumbo packs, All-Stars was one of the tougher insert sets of the era.

DK1 | Diamond Kings were again a feature insert set that honored a recognizable player from each of the 28 MLB teams through an artistic rendition by the famed Dick Perez. (Perez, as has been tradition, appears on card the set's checklist card.) Continuing with the precedent set the previous year, this year's set featured a new overall design that utilized multi-colored abstract shapes. "Diamond Kings" is stamped in gold foil at the top of the card's front. Cards DK1-DK14 were randomly inserted into Series One packs, while cards DK15-DK29 were in Series Two packs.

This nine-card set highlighted Donruss' picks for the top three players at each position. Each card is printed on a metallic acetate card that was translucent and had a full silver-foil finish on the back. Similar to the 1995 Finest set, each card had a removable peel with a "REMOVE PROTECTIVE FILM" sticker covering a significant portion of the card front. These were exclusive to Series Two Hobby packs.

The fifth edition of Donruss' notable insert set continued with 12 cards split evenly across the two series. This year's rendition featured intricate, silver holographic, die-cut borders with a marble inner border surrounding the player photo. Each Elite Series card was serial-numbered to 10,000 copies and sequentially-numbered as a continuation of the set that began in 1991, picking up from where the 1994 set left off. The first 9900 copies of cards 49-54 were inserted into Series One packs, and cards 55-60 were in Series Two.
Randomly inserted into all Series Two boxes were 100 "Hot Packs" that contained a full set of all twelve Elite Series inserts -- each with matching serial numbers.

Description
1995 Donruss was a 550-card set released in two series of 330 and 220 cards - the smallest Donruss base set to that point. Donruss continued as a premium-level brand and produced a borderless design coupled with a home plate-shaped inset photo in the card's lower left corner. The player nameplate is small and etched in silver foil and is rather difficult to read. Inserts were more innovative (e.g., die-cutting, acetate, colored transparency film, holographic foil, and detailed background designs), keeping the Donruss brand relevant in an era of evolving collector tastes.
Prior to the release of Series One, Donruss announced that only 17,500 cases (Hobby wax, retail wax, Jumbos, and Magazine Distributor packs) would be produced, the same as the previous year's product. However, as evidenced by the reduction of the second series base set's size by a third, and adjustments in the stated insertion ratios, Series Two's production run may have been reduced by as much as 15 percent.
Rated Rookies, which like the previous year were scattered throughout the base set, and checklists are the only subsets. There are no notable Rookie Cards.
For the first time ever, Donruss distributed Super Packs - which were exclusive to Jumbo boxes - that contained full insert sets and Hot Packs - exclusive to all Series Two packs - that contained a full Elite Series insert set. Both were the result of and fed into the "Insert Mania" craze that drove The Hobby during this time as Fleer brought the "Hot Pack" concept to baseball in 1995 Ultra.
Distribution
Hobby/Retail: 36 packs per box, 12 cards per pack (MSRP: $1.49).
Jumbo: 24 packs per box, 18 cards per pack ($2.49). Super Packs - containing full insert sets - were exclusive to Jumbo boxes

Promos
To preview the upcoming 1995 Donruss Baseball set, Donruss printed additional quantities of card numbers 5, 8, 20, 42, 55, 275, 331, and 340 and mailed them to dealers and Hobby media. Unfortunately, unlike other "promo" cards of the era, these cards are not marked and are exactly the same as any other base card.

Parallels
Press Proof
1995 marked the introduction of the Press Proof parallel that became a staple in subsequent Donruss flagship and satellite brands. All 550 base cards were available as a Press Proof parallel that featured gold foil stamping across the nameplate - as opposed to silver foil stamping on the base cards - and have "PRESS PROOF" stamped in gold foil across the top of the card. However, some Press Proof cards are missing the Press Proof stamp on the front.
Each Press Proof was limited, but not serial-numbered, to 2000 copies which is denoted on the reverse side.
Inserts
All-Stars
This 18-card set featured the starting lineups for the previous year's All-Star Game and was exclusive to Jumbo packs. Each card featured gray backgrounds with a white outline of the player's respective League logo and colored foil stamping over the "All-Star" text. American League players were in Series One Jumbo packs, while National League players were in Series Two Jumbo packs.
Due to the relative scarcity of Jumbo packs, All-Stars was one of the tougher insert sets of the era.

Bomb Squad
This six-card, dual-sided set recognized top home run hitting counterparts in the game against an orange background with a mid-1900s Air Force bomber and foil-stamped bomb symbols indicating the number of home runs the player hit in the previous season. This insert was exclusive to Series One retail and Magazine packs.

3 Barry Bonds / Albert Belle
4 Jose Canseco / Fred McGriff
5 Cecil Fielder / Andres Galarraga

Diamond Kings
Diamond Kings were again a feature insert set that honored a recognizable player from each of the 28 MLB teams through an artistic rendition by the famed Dick Perez.

Dominators
This nine-card set highlighted Donruss' picks for the top three players at each position. Each card is printed on a metallic acetate card that was translucent and had a full silver-foil finish on the back. Similar to the 1995 Finest set, each card had a removable peel with a "REMOVE PROTECTIVE FILM" sticker covering a significant portion of the card front. These were exclusive to Series Two Hobby packs.

Elite Series

This eight-card set highlighted the top pitchers in the game on a metallic acetate card that featured a circular, transparent mirror film portion that displayed a colored player portrait projection when held up to a light source. Seemingly a "sister" set to the Dominators (see above), each Mound Marvels card also had a removable peel with a "REMOVE PROTECTIVE FILM" sticker covering a significant portion of the card front. These were exclusive to Series Two Retail packs.
